Installation

(Overview)
Resonance is an installation that plays with the idea of making light by proximity. In physics, resonance refers to when an object or system is subjected to an external force or vibration that matches its natural frequency. In the example with Tesla coil, it electrifies the air ions in its surrounding which makes the air conductive. When a viewer holds a light bulb close to the Tesla coil, the light bulb is electrified and lit up. The brightness of the light varies depending on the position of the light bulb.
My intention with the installation is for the viewer to experience of the magic of making light and holding it in one's hand. Electrified air emits energy invisibly and there's a magic feeling when a sole light bulb lights up without wires.
My working process involves sketching out the space, drawing the shapes which would be produced as mirrors and experimenting with the effects, the position of the hanging mirrors and light's reflection with mirrors.
